Cupcake wonderland

Vanilla Cupcake Bakery is such a cute cupcake place. It’s like a dream cafe for little girls who love pink and anything that glitters. It looks like a dollhouse! It’s so girly that I feel like I have to be in a dress or a skirt when I’m there, with my girlfriends. And we’ll just talk about boys and cropped tops while having cupcakes and coffee. So you see it’s really that place wherein you’d feel awkward if you’re not into that “cutesy patootsie” stuff.

Anyway, the cupcake on the left is their Red Velvet and beside it is their S’mores. Did I like it? Well the frosting was overly sweet for me and the cake was a bit dry. I wasn’t really happy with it. But the presentation: excellent! Oh and their cupcakes are full sized too, which I liked.

So if you like unicorns, rainbows, sugar, spice and everything nice then this is the place for you dahling!

It’s raining RAMEN, hallelujah!

I love Japanese food. It’s my first love. But was only in love with just a few on their menu. And because of the ramen craze here in Manila, I’ve been so interested in it lately.

When I was younger, my parents would often take us at a Japanese restaurant on weekends or after school. They were mostly influenced by their Japanese friends and colleagues. By the way, these friends and colleagues would give us boxes of Nissin Cup noodles, different flavors (yum!). And that was my only knowledge of ramen. Sad but true. So ashamed.

Now there are several ramen places in Manila that I have to try because poor lil’ old me know nothing about the real one. I shall therefore go to them ramen joints and slurp away!

By the way, Ippudo is set to open this month so I’m excited!

Food, glorious food

I’d rather not move neither think
With a blank stare, eyes without a wink
My mind is running on empty
Slowly feeling kind of heavy

…and just like that I am out of words. What’s with August? I guess you can say I was in a rut last month, a bit stagnant. I kind of lost interest in what I usually enjoy. I wasn’t even interested in food! Well, good comfort food.
I. Don’t. Know. What. Happened. To. Me.

So I thought that in this crazy world we live in, surely there are times or would be times wherein you just feel sad, unhappy, frustrated, disinterested, bored, dissatisfied, and all that jazz. In short, you’re just always in the black. No matter how hard you try to go back into the red, it just doesn’t help.

I know this would sound wrong and shallow but I thank the heavens for social media. It has kept me sane I guess. Twitter is my source of information: some poor but some really important. And Instagram, how can you not love it? And then there’s Facebook. I mean seeing those annoying and pathetic statuses, I can tell myself that I am OK.

I would like to thank my favorite bloggers and blog sites for their entries. Reading them kept me entertained. To my fave food bloggers, much love to them. Their reviews and pictures were just enough to keep me hungry and eat better.

When I realized that I had to wake up and face the music, I ate. I ate what I love. I even got myself the best Red Velvet cupcake out there, at Sonja’s! Because I know I deserve it!

So you see my friends, it’s not the end. I bid August farewell and welcome September. My food, well mostly cupcakes, journey is not yet over. Because I know that with food, certainly nothing is impossible!
