I got me some Red Velvet Oreo!!!

O.M.G. I never thought I would get my hands on this! Thanks to my brother’s girlfriend who gets her monthly package from the US and saves a pack for me!
I would use it to make an Oreo filled cookie. Unfortunately, due to the limited serving, it’s purely for direct consumption.

Oh yeah!!! Happy me!!!

Not another FROZEN inspired cake

I know, I know… But how can you say no to your niece who is celebrating her 7th birthday? You really can’t.

When my sister-in-law asked me if I could make her (my niece) a birthday cake and cupcakes for the party, I wondered. What am I going to make? How am I going to pull this off?

Obviously I had to make a Frozen inspired cake and cupcakes…just because her party is, well, Frozen themed! No-brainer, right?

And since I am no professional, I was like “What is doable for me?” Fondant cake, can’t do that. Two-layered cake, nope. So the “googler” in me goes online and looks for images until I saw this Kitkat cake from A Spoonful of Sugar.

Pretty, right? So I used this as my inspiration and asked myself, how can I turn this into something suitable for the party’s theme?

At first I said, I could use Kit Kat White. But then it would be too costly. So I looked for alternatives and luckily found a local brand that could work: Choco Mucho!

Not bad eh? This could work. And it did.

It’s not so perfect-looking for me but it did made my sister-in-law and my niece really happy! I also made her some vanilla cupcakes (recipe here).

I used marshmallow buttercream frosting with a drop of blue food coloring. Of course I had to use snowman holders to go with the theme. My niece was so happy as she shouted “Olaf!”

And here’s our little princess with the cake and cupcakes that I made specially for her.

So what do you guys think?

Beach please!

OK. So it’s been what…half a year since I last posted something here. Talk about lazy! I guess I just need a breather from it all. I need to go to the beach for some well deserved R and R. Like now please… But I guess I can’t at the moment. So I’ll be having this for now:

And some of this amazing view…

Can I have that to go, please?

Cupcake wonderland

Vanilla Cupcake Bakery is such a cute cupcake place. It’s like a dream cafe for little girls who love pink and anything that glitters. It looks like a dollhouse! It’s so girly that I feel like I have to be in a dress or a skirt when I’m there, with my girlfriends. And we’ll just talk about boys and cropped tops while having cupcakes and coffee. So you see it’s really that place wherein you’d feel awkward if you’re not into that “cutesy patootsie” stuff.

Anyway, the cupcake on the left is their Red Velvet and beside it is their S’mores. Did I like it? Well the frosting was overly sweet for me and the cake was a bit dry. I wasn’t really happy with it. But the presentation: excellent! Oh and their cupcakes are full sized too, which I liked.

So if you like unicorns, rainbows, sugar, spice and everything nice then this is the place for you dahling!
